Long-Time Client Wins Tank Excellence in Compliance Award

Congratulations to one of our long-time clients, Jr. Food Stores, a convenience store chain owned by Houchens Industries, for earning the Tank Excellence in Compliance Award from the Kentucky Petroleum Marketers Association (KPMA) and Kentucky Underground Storage Tank Branch this year.  They won both the Large Facility Category (more than 11 locations) and the Overall Category.  And before anyone asks:  No, EnSafe’s Ric Federico, has not left EnSafe to join Houchens – he was just fortunate enough to accept the award on their behalf.  Since 2003, Ric has led EnSafe’s team of UST compliance specialists, who have helped set Jr. Food Stores on a path of compliance excellence.

Jr. Food Stores Receives 2019 Outstanding Tank System Award

At the 2019 Tank & Technical Conference this week, KPMA executive director Brian Clark and Kris Fink of Kentucky's UST Branch presented the Tank Excellence in Compliance (TEC) awards. After reviewing 2,920 facilities in Kentucky, the USTB selected three companies that exhibited excellence in meeting or exceeding compliance requirements.

The winners of the small, medium and large categories were announced as follows:

• Tommy's Chevron Service - Small Facility Category Winner, one facility
• Costco Wholesale Corporation - Medium Facility Category Winner, two to 10 facilities
• Jr. Food Stores Inc. - Large Facility Category Winner, 11 or more facilities

The Overall TEC winner for 2019 was Jr. Food Stores Inc. in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

It’s not every day you get a trophy for Underground Storage Tank (UST) Compliance, but it sure will make a nice addition to the Jr. Food Stores’ headquarters.  EnSafe is proud to have played a part.
