Phillip G. Coop, CHMM - President and CEO

AB, History and Science, Harvard University (magna cum laude)

 

Phil is an environmental specialist and a master's level certified hazardous materials manager who coordinates EnSafe's technical and scientific efforts. An environmental consultant since 1980, he's a charter member of the Hazardous Material Control Institute and has managed numerous courses in hazardous materials and environmental projects.  Phil's environmental management career began in 1978 and he co-founded EnSafe in 1980.

James N. Speakman, PE - Senior Vice President

BS, Civil Engineering, Tennessee Technological University; MS, Sanitary and Water Resources Engineering; and PhD, Environment and Water Resources Engineering, Vanderbilt University.

 

Jim has directed numerous engineering/environmental services projects involving multidisciplinary teams for industrial clients and Department of Defense agencies nationwide.  A former U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officer, he joined EnSafe in 1982. He was program manager for a 13-year, Navy CLEAN contract with Southern Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Under the CLEAN contract, EnSafe  provided services for Installation Restoration and other environmental programs at Navy and Marine Corps activities.

Ginny Gray Davis, PG - VP, Branch Operations

An environmental consultant since 1987, Ginny's focus is senior regulatory support, negotiations, and innovative, cost-effective approaches to investigation and environmental problem-solving. In addition, she provides senior client support/customer relations and business development for EnSafe's Cincinnati, Ohio, office and four other locations in the U.S.

Paul V. Stoddard, CPG - VP, Geological Services Group

BS, Biology; BS, Geology; and MS, Geology, University of Memphis

 

Paul has extensive experience in geologic/hydrogeologic processes supporting complete project and technical management, which include consultation, investigation, and remediation construction management.  He joined EnSafe in 1987.

Craig A. Wise, PE - VP, Engineering Services Group

BS, Chemical Engineering, Purdue University

 

Craig has extensive experience in specialty chemical process engineering and consulting in hazardous and radioactive waste management with a concentration in remedial action decision-making. He joined EnSafe in 1988.

Michael Wood, CPA - VP, Chief Financial Officer

BBA, Accounting, University of Memphis

 

Mike oversees all EnSafe administrative functions and provides support on projects with financial analysis components.  He has audited underground storage tank reimbursement applications and consulted regarding compliance with Securities and Exchange Commission environmental disclosure regulations. He is EnSafe's Chief Financial Officer, joining the firm in 1991.

Dave Backus, CHMM, PG , Principal

BS, Geology, University of Memphis

 

Dave has a diverse background in managing, designing, and implementing environmental investigations at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.  He has experience managing large government task orders related to environmental assessments at closing military facilities as well as serving as account manager for EnSafe's oldest client, providing both investigation/remediation and a broad range of compliance services.

Mike Palmer, CIH, CSP, CHMM , Vice President, Health & Safety

MPH, Public Health/Industrial Hygiene, University of Tennessee;
BS, Industrial Risk Management/Fire Science, Eastern Kentucky University

  

Mike provides oversight for all aspects of EnSafe's consulting services, including program development, risk analysis, hazard evaluations/auditing for industrial hygiene and safety issues, expert witness testimony, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration-related training. He has more than 24 years of experience and is qualified in the fields of safety and health management, industrial hygiene, industrial/construction safety, and process safety management. Mike has been an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee since 1990, and is the primary instructor for several occupational safety and health courses.
